Well hidden in the hills above Neapoli, Kastania cave is one of the most impressive in Greece. Nature took millions of years to fill its chambers with stalactites, stalagmites and shapes of every colour and form.

The visit

The cave covers about 1,500 square metres on two levels, and the visitors’ route is about 500 metres long.

Getting there

It lies on the loop road that joins Neapoli to the hill villages of Kastania, Ano Kastania, Faraklo and Mesochori. The road itself is a lovely drive, with views of the sea.

Good to know

Opening hours change with the season: check them before you set off. It is cool inside the cave all year, so bring a jacket even in high summer.
