Diving and snorkelling

A rich seabed around the island and on the coast opposite, and the sunken town of Pavlopetri in a few metres of water.

Do

Around Elafonisos and on the coast opposite the seabed is full of interest, and much of it remains unexplored. If you do not dive, snorkelling is worth it too: the seabed is beautiful even in a few metres of water.

Where

The rocky spots have the most life, such as the bay of Lefki and the ends of the beaches. The most special experience is Pavlopetri, opposite the island: with a mask and snorkel you see the streets, walls and tombs of a Bronze Age town in shallow water.

Good to know

Pavlopetri is a protected archaeological site: do not touch or take anything, and check the current rules before scuba diving there. For scuba diving, go with a dive centre; further down the Things to do page you will find the island’s businesses.
