Fishing with local fishermen
An afternoon at sea with one of the island’s fishermen, setting nets or longlines.
Fishing is part of life on Elafonisos, and every summer the island celebrates it with the Fisherman’s Festival. The best way to get to know it is a trip with a local professional fisherman.
How it works
You usually leave the village harbour in the afternoon to set nets or longlines, as the fishermen do every day. Ask at the harbour or where you are staying who runs such trips.
Good to know
Bring a jacket for the evening at sea and wear non-slip shoes. Further down the Things to do page you will find island businesses that run boat trips.
